How ‘bout it? What do you have in mind for the coming summer? It’s no time for flippin’ burgers or chillin’ on the beach. There’s outdoor adventure to be had, personal growth to achieve and young lives to shape! You’ve seen the program. You’ve read the mission. Feel like you’ve got what it takes to create a life-changing experience for 6-16 year olds at a high-adventure, Christian summer camp for boys? Think so? Well, let’s talk about it.
"As I have been applying for jobs after graduation I have been reminded of how meaningful my summer at Arrowhead was. It's great to be able to tell employers that I spent a summer instructing and mentoring young boys. It shows patience, perseverance, flexibility and maturity. I love telling about Arrowhead - what a great summer!" - Marshall Sharpe, '09 staffer
Our counselors are the heart of Camp Arrowhead, and parents often judge camp by the quality of our summer staff. When a child leaves the familiar surroundings of home to go to a boys summer camp, counselors serve as surrogate parents, older siblings and friends. As an Arrowhead counselor, you have an opportunity to become a true hero to our campers, especially with older campers who think mom and dad are no longer cool.
We have high standards, and we talk to many college students each year from campuses across the nation (with some Aussies and Brits tossed in for good measure). Following a rigorous interview and background check, we choose a fraction of our applicants as summer camp staff. If we feel like you've got what it takes, and you want to join the team, then a week or two of orientation and on-site training will be the starting point for a summer well spent.
