Spearhead: Arrowhead's Premier Adventure Trip
Basic Info | General Itinerary | Skills and Ideals
The campers fortunate enough to participate in one of our Spearhead sessions will, first and foremost, have a ton of fun! They'll be talking about this adventure for years to come. In the midst of it all, they'll also be acquiring significant outdoor skills they'll be able to enjoy and build on. Here's a little information about the skills they will learn:
Backpacking: stove maintenance/camp cooking, camp hygiene, water filtration, orienteering (compass/map navigation), an expedition mindset, trip preparation, how to set up a tarp, proper Leave No Trace techniques and forest stewardship.
Climbing: belaying, rappelling, single and multi-pitch climbing, knots, techniques and geology.
During this backcountry/adventure sport skills acquisition, campers will also be challenged to grow both spiritually and intellectually. While immersed in nature, the greatest classroom of all, campers will gain a deeper understanding of the diverse ecosystems they encounter, their role as stewards for those ecosystems as well as their role as stewards for each other.
We believe Spearhead campers will develop a greater sense of character, confidence, courage and compassion while exploring God’s creation and His word in community with one another.
