Greetings from the once-again lush green Camp Arrowhead for Boys in Tuxedo, NC. Recent rains have brought welcome color back to our fields and trees, and the cooler temperatures are a pleasant foretaste of the coming change of season.
So, Who Won the Log?
Big news from summer’s end: The Chickensaw tribe dominated their Bootashataloo brothers all the way through the End of Summer session, winning the coveted log and earning a spot on the dining hall wall. We look forward to adding new campers to both tribes next year and to continuing this tradition of friendly rivalry.
Registration for 2009
Now that it is mid-September, our camper recruiting efforts are in full swing for 2009. Nearly 60 returning families took advantage of the early bird discount, and with open enrollment starting October 15, now’s the time to reserve your spot for next summer. Earn Discounts by Hosting Home Shows
We’re also in the process of scheduling home shows and would be delighted to come to your neck of the woods. Send email to jeremy@camparrowhead.org or give us a call for details about hosting a home show. Remember, families receive a 5% discount for every new camper they help recruit, so gather your friends and let’s get together!
New and Online
A few things worth noting that are new and online: the 2008 Arrowhead movie has been posted with updated footage, the September newsletter is online with updated session dates and you can click here find details about next spring’s second annual father/son canoe trip. We had a great trip earlier this year and are excited to return to Florida for more paddling, camping and fellowship.
Spring/Fall Events at Arrowhead
Speaking of the spring, now is the time to schedule your next event at Camp Arrowhead. Since the end of camp we’ve hosted two college groups, a birthday party, two family reunions, an outdoor education program, and we’re looking forward to a wedding and another private school’s outdoor adventure group next month. Call Matt or Jeff at 828-692-1123 to inquire about dates and fees for your upcoming day trip, weekend getaway or other special event.
And a final congratulations to director Jeff Killebrew and his new bride Heather, who tied the knot over Labor Day weekend. May God bless your new journey together.
