Are You a Control Freak?
Be honest now. Do you like to have things go your way? Most of us do – some more than others! Some of us not only like it…we demand it. We want to be in control. We need to be in control.
Did you see the movie Bruce Almighty? Jim Carrey’s character was given the power and responsibility to act as God. He had fun with that for a while, but soon he became overwhelmed with all the prayer requests coming his way and didn’t know what to do. It’s easy to feel the same way when we struggle to control things that are simply bigger than we are.
I find great comfort in knowing that God is the one in control and knows what is best. That truth doesn’t always make tough stuff easier to go through or to understand, but it should reassure us to know we don’t have to be in control. That it’s ok to not have all the answers. That we’re only human and would probably mess everything up if we were in control!
The sovereignty of God is a big topic. Real big. Too big to truly understand. But let me encourage you to put your faith in the truth that God is big enough to deal with all our stuff. Our limited vision doesn’t always allow us to see that fact, but the Bible teaches that the Father knows best and will never leave us or forsake us. Put your trust in Him and rest in the peace He provides.
