Children of Promise

We believe experiential learning gives all children the opportunity to try, fail, try again, and ultimately succeed within a community of complete support and encouragement. Overcoming challenges, real or imagined, requires sustained effort and creates a sense of real and enduring accomplishment. We strongly believe that every child should have this opportunity.

For this reason, Camp Arrowhead sets aside several weeks each summer exclusively for children who under ordinary circumstances cannot afford a camp experience. We have several sessions throughout the summer set aside specifically for these, our Children of Promise campers, who come from our local community as well as inner-city neighborhoods around the southeast.

We launched this program in 2005 with a group from Desire Street Ministries in New Orleans and expanded in 2006 to include young people from the Henderson County Young Leaders Program and the local Boys & Girls Club. Both groups joined us again during the summer of 2007, and new partners will be joining us in 2008.

During the 2007 camp season, we provided scholarships for 85 Children of Promise campers and invite you to make an investment in this life-changing experience. A gift of $750 will make a one-week session affordable for one camper, and all gifts are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Camp Arrowhead is a 501c3, non-profit organization, and our federal tax id is 83-0411277.
